Guillaume Duponchel  / Zodiac Data Systems : A market made to measure

p7_zodiac.jpgAlthough the telemetry market – which consists in receiving and transmitting data (technical, physical, etc.) at a distance and in real time – implies confidentiality, competition is no less ferocious.

“It’s a permanent race for performance,” observes Guillaume Duponchel, in charge of the Normandy-based Zodiac Data Systems site.
Located in Bretteville l’Orgueilleuse, the Zodiac Aerospace subsidiary’s key activity is the development of receivers for aeronautical test centres where planes, missiles, rockets and drones are tested, and of software-defined radios (radio receiver and transmitter) used to capture satellite signals. Here, innovation is at the very heart of business strategy. “We have one or two ongoing internally funded studies on a permanent basis,” explains the site’s manager. “We devote 25,000 hours per year to them, i.e. the equivalent of 7 to 8 full-time engineers.”
A policy that has offered Zodiac Data Systems a position as European leader in the field. Last October, at the occasion of the latest edition of the International Telemetering Conference – the internationally renowned telemetry event – the company presented its new demodulator (multi-HCPM), the very first in France. And as early as next year, the company plans to launch a new range of software-defined radios offering increased capacities.
