A super laser crystal made in Normandy

Creation of the Pôle Régional d’Enseignement Supérieur (Regional Higher Education Hub)

The University of Caen, the University of Rouen, the University of Le Havre, ENSICAEN and INSA Rouen are the 5 founding higher education establishments behind the PRES NORMANDIE UNIVERSITE. The creation of this EPCS (Etablissement public de coopération scentifique), a public establishment with a vocation for research and scientific cooperation, should offer Normandy increased exposure, whilst pooling efforts and facilitating cooperation between higher education, research and economic players.

LMNO: Winner of the “Têtes Chercheuses” competition

The LMNO (Nicolas Oresme Mathematics Laboratory), under CNRS/UCBN supervision, is the winner of the 2011 edition of the “Têtes chercheuses” competition organised by Relais d’sciences and the Fondation Musée Schlumberger. Their project, entitled “Le Labosaïque”, will be previewed during the Fête de la Science in October 2011.

Éolane establishes its Caen-based R&D unit in the EffiScience science park.

Éolane (2,300 employees, €270M turnover), specialised in professional electronics, has established its Caen-based Research & Development Unit in the EffiSciences science park in Colombelles. Its team of fifteen engineers, specialised in the design of digital electronic cards targeting, in particular, the telecommunication/multimedia and aeronautical markets, has joined the Innovaparc building within the science park.
