The keys to ENSICAEN’s success

ENSICAEN’s mission is to train engineers to a high scientific and technical level. With some 720 students, the school has always succeeded in reuniting education & training and industrial links. Today, the school is continuing its growth with the inauguration of a new building and an alliance with the INSA in Rouen.

Following a CESR study, published in 2007, new relationships have emerged among the sector’s various players. Watching over the Mont-Saint-Michel

The origins of the Mont-Saint-Michel and the natural phenomena that embrace its bay still hold many a mystery that researchers from all fields, and in particular from Lower Normandy, are endeavouring to penetrate. Amidst the vast programme to rehabilitate the Mont’s maritime character, involving fifty or so regional businesses, their work also contributes to preserving and positively promoting this jewel in Normandy’s… and the world’s heritage!

Patents: an essential ingredient for improving research development

Filed by businesses or laboratories, patents are an illustration of the great vivacity of research and innovation. However, lack of knowledge or the complexity of associated procedures often hinder their impetus. The creation of a Caen-based INPI office last year could well boost the number of patent applications filed, hence encouraging the positive development of research and innovation efforts.
GREYC: the proof is in the picture

For the last 13 years, the imaging team from the GREYC (Caen Research Group in Computer Science, Imaging, Automation and Instrumentation - joint CNRS - ENSICAEN - UCBN research group) has been developing a vast range of fundamental skills in image analysis and processing, particularly in the medical field. The team’s fusion, last year, with the Vision et Analyse d’Image (Image Vision and Analysis) team, present in both Cherbourg and Saint-Lô, has reinforced its move towards other fields of application: security, multimedia, heritage conservation… Encounter.
