Follow the footsteps of a funding application

12 12 2008

Filing a request for European funding can appear to be a complicated affair. The State and the Regional Council have joined forces to make life easier for you.

Depending on the type of application, the State or the Regional Council (1) are involved to coordinate support applications. Whatever the type of service you are looking for, they will guide you towards the right contact. Several phases can be distinguished.

Application
1 / Approach the right contact (State or Regional Council): to discover whether your project is eligible, then, once your application has been completed, to send it to the appropriate department.

Examination
2 / The examination phase can then begin. This phase aims at checking that your project is indeed eligible, that the selection criteria have been fully satisfied and that the financing plan is balanced.

Opinion
3 / A regional programming committee examines funding applications and puts forward a preliminary opinion prior to the decision to grant financial support which is made by the managing authority and intermediate organisations.

Decision
4 / After the opinion has been put forward, the final decision is incumbent upon the appropriate authority: State, Regional Council, Manche Departmental Council or OSEO (1).

Agreement
5 / An agreement is then signed by the partners involved in the project.

(1) The agreement signed with the State on the 9th of June 2008, has enabled the Lower Normandy Regional Council to coordinate the distribution of 71.8 million Euros for the implementation of EFDR funds (from a total 181 million Euros). The Manche Departmental Council is responsible for managing 3 million Euros aimed at supporting and developing SMEs. Oseo Innovation is responsible for implementing action to facilitate the recruitment of research executives in regional SMEs and VSEs (3.5 million Euros).
