A GREYC team selected in the United States
3 06 2010A research team from the GREYC (CNRS/UCBN/ENSICAEN Joint Research Unit), directed by Professor Christophe Dolabdjian, is involved in one of four projects recently selected within the framework of the DARPA (Defence Advanced Research Project) in the United States, focusing on the development of highly sensitive magnetometers.
The team will, on the one hand, be developing and characterising highly sensitive magnetic sensors based on magnetoelectric heterostructures or multiferroic materials and, on the other hand, will be actively interacting with the DARPA to compare and qualify the performance of all magnetometers developed within the context of these research programmes. There are a multitude of potential applications: position detection and assistance, biomedical, non-destructive control, aerospace, geomagnetism, magnetic imaging… The project will benefit from $6.8M of funding over 4 years.
